Excellent investigative police work by SRG1 members this week. While patrolling NYPD 23rd Precinct, members were flagged down by an individual who was robbed at gunpoint. After a brief investigation & canvass, 3 persons were placed under arrest & two illegal firearms were recovered.

Today marks 94 years that our Emergency Service Unit officers help New Yorkers and their fellow finest in some of the most challenging situations. The elite “E-Men” have always carried out their work in a calm and professional manner.

Recently, off-duty Lt. Siani of NYPD Chief of Detectives leaped into action when he was alerted of a woman in distress. Without hesitation he established dialogue & waited patiently till NYPD Special Ops Emergency Unit officers arrived.

Yesterday, high above a Queens residential building, a distraught man was threatening to jump off a fire escape. Thanks to these highly-trained NYPD Special Ops officers, they were able to coax the individual down to safety, ensuring he received the necessary medical treatment.

Our hearts are heavy as we mourn the senseless loss of Police Officer Jonathan Diller, who was tragically killed in the line of duty last night, protecting the citizens of New York City.
We pray for his family & we vow to never forget his sacrifice.

We are saddened to announce the passing of #ESU  Sergeant Paul Hargrove, who died from 9/11 related illnesses on Friday. Paul paved the way for countless men & women who have joined the ranks of the NYPD. Paul's legacy will always live on, & we will never forget his sacrifice.

The @NYPDSpecialOps Harbor Unit carries out various missions within the Port of NY, including search and rescue operations, as well as contributing to the city's counterterrorism efforts. Today, they served as ambassadors & helped to welcome Marine nationale to our city.

Members of the Strategic Response Group are cross-trained in many disciplines, including HazMat mitigation. SRG members train & work closely with ESU members, which allows for a unified Special Operations response to critical incidents throughout NYC.

It doesn't matter what you're driving, you're not outrunning a helicopter. Watch as pilots from the NYPD Special Ops Aviation Unit chase and direct ground units to apprehend an individual wanted from New Jersey.

As we continue hosting King Edward VI College King Ed's Criminology students — they had an opportunity to meet our four legged partners who are part of our Mounted & ESU K9s. Their visit continues with our NYPD Special Ops Harbor Unit highlighting some sights of NYC!

When lives are on the line, FDNY and the NYPD Special Ops Aviation Unit work to coordinate rescue efforts. At this afternoon's fire in Harlem, pilots from the aviation unit helped direct firefighters to victims dangling from windows as firefighters made daring rope rescues.

Congratulations to the 84 NYPD officers who completed their 6-week Strategic Response Group training. They will now join the robust Special Operations Division that works day in and day out to keep New Yorkers safe.
