Sat 26 Jul is #BathPride and we're excited to be taking part. Pop down to Sydney Gardens and say hi either on the stall or during the March. On the stall you can find out more about what's happening at Bath Assembly Rooms and the inclusive histories work we're undertaking.

For all those celebrating #InternationalLipstickDay, here's a C18th recipe for keeping chapped lips at bay. A simple mix of honey and lavender water helps to keep them soft and smooth. 💋 The Georgian's had many recipes for lip salves, often with colourants in to make a lipstick.

#ThisTimeLastYear we'd just opened the doors for the all-new LEGO® Brick Paintings Exhibition by Emily Corl from Brick Galleria. The Tea Room housed the new collection of artwork created Emily, and visitors could watch as she built a custom piece of Bath Assembly Rooms.

Have you been baking lately? If so, you might be called 'Burn Crust' - although we hope, of course, you haven't had any burnt crusts. This weeks #SundaySlang is 'Burn Crust'. A fun name used for bakers. Inspiration is taken from the Classical Dictionary of the Vulgar Tongue.

This is the latest find under the #floorboards at Bath Assembly Rooms. A receipt for materials from Robert Membery Ltd, a company trading in Bath in 1847 to 1970. It looks like this was from the 1900s but the writing is hard to read - can you decipher any of the writing?

We might struggle to speak GenZ, but doesn't mean the Georgians would - no cap. This weeks #SundaySlang is to 'cap' or to 'swear' truthfully and 'take one's oath'. Similarities to GenZ 'no cap', meaning 'no lie', is uncanny. Inspired by Classical Dictionary of the Vulgar Tongue.

🖋️ On #NationalCalligraphyDay, we’re highlighting a hidden detail in the basement of Bath Assembly Rooms. A carved stone sign reading 'to the office', complete with a pointing hand. A quiet nod to historic craftsmanship. #HiddenHistory #BathAssemblyRooms

'Who did I dance with? Goodness me I can't remember...errm..Mr Thingumbob!' This weeks #SundaySlang is a gift for those of us who are terrible with names. 'Thingumbob' was used to refer to someone who's name you didn't know, along with 'What-d'ye-call'em'.

Ever wondered what secrets lie behind the scenes of this historic building? Take a look at this lightwell tucked away by the Ball Room balcony. This narrow space was intentionally built to channel natural light through the window into the Great Octagon.

If visitors to the Assembly Rooms found the wine particularly 'more-ish' then they were in luck - there was a wine cellar underneath the Ball Room. Top up anyone!? #SundaySlang inspiration is taken from the Classical Dictionary of the Vulgar Tongue.

Four legged friends have been companions for centuries, but how much have our favourite dog names changed? We came across a list of popular dog names from the early 18th century, and what better day to share it than #InternationalDogDay. Is your dog called one of these names?

Did you know? Between 1902 and 1934, the Assembly Rooms were also used as a cinema. Can you imagine watching a film in the grand setting of the Ball Room? #NationalCinemaDay
