This month Captain Pete Bethune is staying with us here at Marine Conservation Cambodia, primarily to help us with our illegal fisher issue. Last night Pete showed us an episode of his show 'The Operatives', where him and his team rescued a captive dolphin from Indonesia. #Icried #ThanksButNoTanks

Just before lunch, Sarah and Gaby went out to collect our C-POD (type of hydrophone), which has been out on its test run. Now Neyda and Gaby are clearing it of barnacles, before we can look at the data! #marineconservation #cpod #dolphinproject

Today was an action packed day on our 'Big Boat'. Three dolphin surveys, and 2 artificial reefs built. The team is now exhausted, but proud of a day of hard work, researching and protecting the Archipelago! #marineconservation #dolphinresearch #stopthetrawlers

This weekend the MCC crew defended our colours on the football pitch! We played a tournament in Kampot, with 64 teams coming from all over Cambodia! Whilst we got through Day 1, we were unfortunatly knocked out this morning. Thanks to the rest of our staff for coming to support!

Yesterday was training day for this months volunteers. We started with some marine mammal biology, moved on to previous research in the region, then onto 'The Cambodian Marine Mammal Conservation Project' itself. After that we had a workshop on our data collection methods.

Last Tuesday we captured images of an Irrawaddy dolphin with deep scars, most likely from entanglement in fishing gear. This individual survived, by many do not. Bycatch is a serious issue for marine life, spreading the message is the 1st step to tackling the issue. #bycatch
