Archaeologists work to extract a canoe at Lake Munson outside Tallahassee, Florida. The canoe was hollowed out using fire and stone tools some 500 to 800 years ago during the Fort Walton cultural period in Florida history. Look for the Lake Munson Canoe at the Museum of FL History.

Important Announcement: Beginning Sept. 6, the Museum will temporarily close as part of ongoing renovations at the R. A. Gray Building. These renovations are part of a repair project on the plaza level above the Museum’s exhibit galleries. More info here: dos.myflorida.com/communications…
