Absolutely heartbreaking, powerful interview this morning with Patricia Karvelas and Megan Krakour about the suicide of a baby, a 10 year old boy, in state care in WA. It brought me to tears. What an absolute failure

I’m just watching women around the country respond to the verdict with… relief. And celebration. It’s pretty powerful. Maybe because we all know a woman who has been harassed or assaulted and not believed

I’m a proud member of Union Aid Abroad and if you’re not a member of the union movement’s global justice organisation, you should be.

Analysis by the ABC and David Killick in todays Mercury suggesting a consistent view that the “deal” struck by the new JLN members with the Rockliff minority Government isn’t that great a deal at all abc.net.au/news/2024-04-1…

Disappointing (but sadly, not the first time) that there is no Minister for Workplace Relations or Workplace Safety in a Tasmanian Liberal Government’s cabinet. I’ll declare my pro-worker bent here, but as if these areas are not deserving of dedicated ministries

Union members have stood together and won new rights at work.

Peter Dutton has already promised to get rid of the Right to Disconnect. Which other rights will he take from you if he wins the election?

So I watched a couple of episodes of Law and Order: SVU today after many years of not being able to watch it since I had children. Anyway, turns out I still shouldn’t watch it.

He’d know of course. Poor guy had to take on the women’s ministry because apparently there was no one else more suitable to do so

I just listened to this podcast and it was incredible. Two formidable women talking and amongst other things. Thought provoking and I definitely want to read Chanel Contos book! Highly recommend this pod!

This is excellent news for South Australia. Unfortunately, the Tasmanian Liberal Government has consistently refused calls by the union movement to bring us in line with other states and territories meaning Tassie workers lose out SDA Union

The Return of the Jedi of the Socially Democratic x Tasmanian election podcast series!

Results, Labor leadership ballot (we’re strongly pro ballot), what’s next for the parties.

Thanks to everyone who joined us at our rally for industrial manslaughter yesterday. The election campaign may be over but our demands for better safety laws for Tasmanian workers aren’t. It’s time to bring Tassie in line with the rest of the country 1/2

I thank Rebecca White for her service to the Tasmanian ALP.
Leader of the opposition is a thankless task and the toughest job in politics.
Rebecca gave her all but accepts that it is time for renewal.
Accusations of misogyny and bad behaviour are misplaced and unhelpful.

Well Tassie, we’re off to the polls today. I’ve been proud to work with Unions Tasmania & with parties and candidates on policies that are proudly pro-worker, like lifting wages & implementing industrial manslaughter. We’ve got an opportunity to change the government today
