Universities can teach how to design lesson plans, but not how to connect with kids. They can explain the rules of classroom management, but they can’t provide the patience & compassion that all teachers need. Teachers don’t just need the right skills; they need the right heart.

Some kids have taller mountains to climb than others. We can’t climb the mountains for them, but an awareness of the mountains... reminds us of the importance of our patience and support. Some kids need us to be their cheerleader more than they need us to be their instructor.
