Grade 2/3 bell work representing numbers in a variety of ways. An understanding of the quantity represented by a number helps students understand the meaning behind an operation. ⁦Ekcoe Central PS⁩

The aim of modelled writing is use the “think aloud strategy” to model what goes on in the head of the writer. This gives the teacher opportunities to explicitly talk about elements of the writing process, and also allows students to observe the way a writer crafts ⁦⁦.

We went on a community walk to explore measurement and understand kilometres. We discussed the difference between speed and distance while getting some fresh air, sunshine and exercise! We were proud of our 2km walk! Ekcoe Central PS #grade23

Today we created, measured and solved for perimeter using square tiles and then cm. We then used our knowledge of arrays and multiplication to find the area. Something about writing on our desks makes this activity extra engaging! Ekcoe Central PS #grade23
