This week in science, we explored human impact by making a demonstration of the Great Pacific Garbage Patch. Students brainstormed the effects garbage in the ocean could have on not only ocean ecosystems, but humans as well! #NGSS #WhatDoYouWonder

WHO knew we could have so much fun learning about an Owl’s place in a food web with our pellet dissection lab!? 🦉#reutterrocks

Our newest recess equipment to help us better understand how the Sun, Earth, and Moon’s alignment can result in an eclipse! #ReutterRocks

Today we made a scale model to show the distance between the Earth, Moon and Sun. We had fun making predictions then using math reasoning! If the Earth and Moon are 5.5cm apart, then the Sun would have to be about 21m from the Earth 😳 #ReutterRocks

Tonight is the first full moon of spring in the northern hemisphere! Pink flowers coming into bloom lend their name to this full moon. Full moons occur when the Moon is opposite the Sun in its orbit around Earth and its nearside is fully illuminated. moon.nasa.gov/moon-in-motion…

Scientists worked in groups to peer assess written responses based on the CER method in this fun Be The Teacher activity. I can’t wait to see their own open ended responses flourish as a result!

Would you rather have a super long finger or super stretchy tongue?! Scientists read an article to learn about two unique animal adaptations, and participated in a short Socratic Seminar to share ideas based on evidence #ReutterRocks

Today in math we assessed commonly made mistakes when dividing fractions. Groups had the opportunity to find their favorite mistake and report it to the class

What a fun Friday for science! Today we explored science equipment that we don’t regularly use. Students measured volume of liquids, irregular objects and rectangular prisms using appropriate tools. We also measured mass using a triple beam balance and graphed data! #ReutterRocks

We don't always have to rely on "two negatives make a positive" when subtracting negatives. Here's another way to think about it.
