We stand in solidarity with colleagues in Citizens Advice Sunderland. Local CABs provide the help & hope local communities desperately need, making this such a devastating loss. But we also know the strength & resilience that exists in CABs that will help the team to come back from this.

Those seeking asylum face some of the greatest levels of destitution across Scotland. Free bus travel would have made a very real difference to access advice, education and places of worship. It’s a huge blow for this not to go ahead. povertyalliance.org/news-scottish-…

Do not be fooled by those faces. These clowns have taken to absolute chaos during the day as I try to work from home. So if we’re on a call and it appears like I’m ranting at someone in the background - it’s this pair!

Energy bills remain too high. This is alongside £3billion + of energy debt that many will never be able to pay back. We urgently need reform and the introduction of a social tariff for households on the lowest incomes

As the Prime Minister makes his address shortly, yes there are difficult decisions for the UK Govt, but it’s not right that those on lowest incomes should bear the brunt of these. We cannot let things get worse for those whose circumstances are already unbearable.

We're The Poverty Alliance Citizens Advice Scotland IPPR Scotland fringe, Drawing a Line Under Poverty. The reality facing families in this cost of living crisis is grim. The case for minimum income guarantee and bringing asylum support to the level of Universal Credit could not be greater.

We need to have the imagination and conviction to ensure everyone has enough to live a decent & dignified life. A minimum income guarantee gives us a way doing this. We cannot afford to miss this opportunity to do better for all of us.
