Thirty years ago today - 6 May 1994 - the Channel Tunnel was officially opened

It's worth pointing out that it cost £4.65 bn, when the estimate was £2.6 bn (1985 prices), an 80% overrun.

But no one thinks about that now - we have a fantastic piece of infrastructure.
