There is overwhelming research showing homework does little to improve achievement, especially in early years, and can actually have negative effects. Recess however has many positive effects such as improved self regulation of emotions, improved interpersonal skills and focus!

There is one thing all students want to feel & that is WELCOMED! Make them feel welcomed to your class! * greeting them at door starts the day off right! * Welcome them with a smile * Call them by name * Take time to listen to their story * Tell them you're glad they're there

Teachers, your students may not remember everything about your class, but they will remember that you cared, showed grace, made them feel valued, and encouraged them to give/ become their best. They will remember that and you forever.

Students work harder for teachers they respect and respect them back. Relationships before rigor.

Teachers, want to take something off your plate? Put HW in the trash. Especially for elementary, let students go home, run, play, and enjoy being a child. And read a little after playing. Then they come to school recharged instead of stressed out and you will too!

Using a calculator isn’t cheating. Using spellcheck isn’t cheating. Using Google isn’t cheating. Using audiobooks isn’t cheating. Using #ChatGPT isn’t cheating. Let’s stop trying to catch kids cheating and start creating authentic assignments they won’t want to cheat on.
