Happy TSPR Day to all who celebrate:

[TransLink releases its ridership data once a year and it is a TREASURE TROVE of useful data. More to come.]

What are your takeaways from it?

Did you know TransLink won't even be able to increase frequency in rush hours for at least two years? We desperately need more bus lanes *now*, which will allow us to better use the buses we already have. Faster bus=more capacity, less overcrowding

We dispel a lot of common complaints about transit infrastructure; like whether the Canada Line was appropriately sized๐Ÿ‘€

If we want transit to be better, we're going to have to pay for it somehow.

Watch this absolute clinic on how to have that conversation.

It is a Saturday afternoon and the bus bunching on the 19 is so bad that this bus with 15 minute headways is coming on 21, 21, and 23 minutes.

I am so absolutely tired of walking 2.5kms because thatโ€™s the faster option.

Every time I pass through Oakridge Canada Line station in the afternoon, there are dozens of construction workers taking the train to get home

Donโ€™t let them tell you that transit and trades workers are incompatible Movement: Metro Vancouver Transit Riders TransLink BC

This graph from UBC's CHATR lab seems to indicate that riding transit is 34 times safer than walking down the street. Have you seen any graphs that differ from this one? Please share sources!

Sometimes it's due to a collision, sometimes it's just 'traffic'. ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™€๏ธ

When a RapidBus replaces the 222 (or before that!), Rob Fleming's Ministry can help Burnaby Heights residents by making room for bus lanes on the ramps from Hastings to Hwy 1. Details: linkedin.com/pulse/movementโ€ฆ

TransLink has released its Bus Speed & Reliability Report and it's a cornucopia of arguments for better transit. If we want less congestion, safer streets, improved and affordable access for residents and businesses it's all laid out here: translink.ca/plans-and-projโ€ฆ

Remember this picture of Kingsway. It's a part of our history, not our future.

TransLink wants bus lanes.
City council wants bus lanes.
Movement wants bus lanes.

The only reason we don't have them yet is because there are powerful forces still opposed. But we'll win.

Los Angelenos will get $700M+ of transportation goodies because officials scrapped their plans to widen a highway.

Other places could do this, too.
