Some questions we need to ask in order to be able to collect relevant information - how long do people spend on small talk in a business setting - is it the same in every culture? Is there a clash e.g. re length (Swiss/ US ppl right to the point - Arab countries? no... #ELTchat

When considering error correction in ELF contexts, should we consider there are several variables - who Ss will be using English with (and their L1), what level the students are (ie. likely to make different kinds of errors), teacher's shared knowledge of L1... #ELTchat

I also think that a teacher's approach towards correction is really a reflection of and close tied to their underlying beliefs on how we learn language. #ELTchat

Weird but wonderful life of a serial language learner - yesterday I attended a discussion (in Russian) on teaching Russian lexically and today I replied to a message in Vietnamese to an American whose Vietnamese is better than mine. Love it!

Thought the idea of giving students criteria to help them decide what to focus on, and bearing them in mind ourselves, was a great way to cope with the sheer overload potential here. Very helpful suggestion from Elisabeth Jackson.
