If you want to know what it’s like to be a urologist, I was going to replace a man’s clogged catheter for the fourth time and as I whipped back the curtain he immediately says “Ah, Dr Bowman… my friend and my foe”

Just in: Rep. Jared Huffman, Rep. Jamie Raskin, and other members of the Congressional Freethought Caucus are calling on the Federal Trade Commission's Bureau of Consumer Protection "to take necessary steps to protect consumers from the dangers presented by Health Care Sharing Ministries."

Health care sharing ministries use deceptive marketing and often fail to provide necessary services for their members—under the cover of Christianity. My Freethought Caucus co-chair Rep. Jamie Raskin and I are calling on the FTC to protect consumers from these dangerous practices.

A new letter from Rep. Jared Huffman and colleagues raises alarm about a non-ACA product that doesn't get as much attention - health care sharing ministries. Members ask FTC to look at these products and ways to prevent deceptive marketing and protect consumers huffman.house.gov/imo/media/doc/…

Had an appointment UCLA Health today. Was charged $14 to park for 47 mins. There is absolutely no justifiable reason for this. Discussions about health equity don’t just center in exam rooms, but in barriers we put up before patients can even walk through the door.

This makes *checks notes* a total of 7 lawsuits filed by doctors, hospitals, and air ambulance companies over implementation of the No Surprises Act and the law itself.

If we're serious about ending the pandemic we need a "no wrong door" approach to treatments like Paxlovid, especially because it is more effective taken sooner to COVID diagnosis.

My unpopular take of the day: We should not need prescriptions except for a handful of categories of disease or for initiation of certain treatments. Paxlovid requires some guidance, but pharmacists can provide it, with MD/APP assistance as needed.

Work requirements for Medicaid are no more than another way to punish the poor and limit access to health care. They simply are not justifiable as legitimate policy.
