At the moment, Lancashire United 202 is in our upper display hall, part of the display of pre-war buses. But later today, thanks to our friends from the Lincolnshire Road Transport Museum, it’ll be outside giving a few demonstration runs (not carrying passengers)

Sorry for all the posts today! But we just had to share the news that not only will this lovely 1934 Leyland ‘Lion’ be at our event, but it’ll do a few runs on one of our free heritage bus services. If you want to come down, our event is on 10am to 4.30pm both days this weekend.

It’s nearly time… our lovely friends from Heaton Park Tramway and Bury TransportMuseum are helping to load this amazing horse tram so it can attend our event this weekend. If you want to see it, we’ll be open 10 am to 4.30 pm tomorrow and Sunday.

Coinciding with the bicentenary of Britain's buses, which started in Salford in 1824, we've published this lovely book ‘West of the Irwell' about the quirky, even tetchy history of Salford's buses. It's on sale from our online shop at motgmshop.uk/product-page/w… for just £25 + P&P.

We're going a long way back for this week's - to the 1890s. But this is recognisably Piccadilly Gardens and on the right you can see horse trams and buses. We hope to bring the last two of these together again this weekend at our 'Omnibus' event.

Unfortunately, our friends at the Ribble Vehicle Preservation Trust have told us that they're unable to bring their two re-wat Leyland buses to our 'Omnibus' event this weekend - both of these very old buses aren't fit to make the journey, despite best efforts.

We're excited, as next weekend is the first of our events to mark - it's 200 years since the UK's first bus service ran, in Salford. On Sat/Sun next week we'll run 'Omnibus', celebrating buses up to 1940. Ashton 8 here won't be giving rides, but it'll be on show.
