Best thing we have done this year: Name the strategies. Be very clear about why they will support excellent T&L in lesson. Have them as a focus of every CPD throughout the year. These strategies support oracy, collaboration, independent work, active participation, retrieval 1/

One of the bits of CPD this year which has had the most positive feedback is our T and L briefings where each week I remind staff of one strategy which feeds into our Great Teaching principles. None of these are my own ideas but I add any I hear in podcasts or in my reading 1/

Trialling a ‘reading journal’ instead of the standard reading record to make it more enjoyable & independent for my class. Have a list of activities & ask them to complete at least one for each book they read, and just to keep track of when they read then the rest is up to them!
