Had the privilege of seeing Jamal Edwards talk to Lea Manor High School pupils back in 2020. He was a real inspiration; so engaging and hard working that we even named a house after him! Very sad news today - my thoughts are with his friends and family. Rest in peace Jamal.

5 years as a student, 6 years as a teacher! I am so grateful to all of the friends I have made along the way and am thankful that I have had the chance to teach so many wonderful students. I said a final goodbye today as I packed up years worth of memories and clutter 😂

On Thursday we hosted a traditional afternoon tea to welcome our newest members of staff to Chalk. The event was a delightful way for colleagues to relax, connect and enjoy a variety of teas, scones, finger sandwiches, and an assortment of delicious cakes.

The buzz in the library during our Reading Mentor Sessions is wonderful. Our Sixth Form and KS3 students have really risen to the challenge!

World Book Day celebrations have already begun! From a book fair to quizzes to author visits, we have so many exciting things planned for the month of March 📚

What a way to celebrate World Book Day and International Women’s Day! Our Year 9s were so engaged in Safiyyah’s talk about the publishing process and how she finds inspiration for her stories. Definitely some future writers in this group!

Such an exciting event! The year 8s (and the staff) were so inspired by Dan Freedman’s assembly, and we were even able to have a Q&A session to find out more about his experiences as a writer and a football fan.
