Day spent painting my son's bedroom and catching up with the recent Social Work Student Connect webinars. Particularly enjoyed the one on ethics which echoed with my thoughts on how ideas around values, beliefs, ethics etc are often not easily made sense of by SWs including myself!

Completed a practice educators midway review report yesterday without using the term service user within it. Will be interested to see if anyone comments upon this at the meeting next week!

Busy day starting with Practice Educators & supervisors workshop on race & supervison. Signposting to Outlanders and thinking about power & privilege. Then onto prep for placement meeting & finished with a multi agency reflective group on time management & use of dictophones!

Great to meet with some onsite supervisors this morning and hear how they want to get things right for their students. It may not require a formal qualification in practice education but such people provide essential day to day support & guidance to learners. Thank you one & all

Can anyone clarify for me why some Universities request students provide evidence of SWE Professional Standards during their placements whilst SWE state these need to be met after qualification not during SW training? Or am I mistaken/ not up to date? Thank you

Completed the core values cards activity with an apprentice this morning. Love the way it helps us to identify our personal values & then allows us to think how each might help or hinder our practice! Fits in nicely with PCF2 & connects to the Professional Standards. Long day of OU learning agreement meetings completed. Feel privileged to listen to some new students & practice educators & hear about their motivations, hopes & aspirations as placements progress in various local authorities across the region Ann @OU_HWSC

I love telephoning families to gather feedback about students. It really helps me to check out & reflect upon my own views & often pleasantly surprises me. It should be a routine part of an assessment of student capability, with their voices included in our PE reports Suffolk & Norfolk Social Work Teaching Partnership

Our parkrun will start tomorrow at 09:00 near the Salad Bowl cafe on the clifftops, we will be running upto the lighthouse and back, the main briefing will be at 08:55, if you call into the cafe after your run and show your barcode you will receive a 5% discount.

Great turnout for our parkrun this morning 134 runners/walkers including 25 Victor's from the Dereham Runners AC. Well done to all! 👍

Don't tweet much these days but feel the urge to do so having enjoyed a student and apprentice session I ran on signs of safety this morning. Discussed safety circles, safety objects and how humility, curious questioning and straightforward language are key to good practice

Ease yourself in gently to achieving 5k or just go for it – we welcome everyone (you don’t even need to complete the whole 5k if you don’t want to, though you won’t get a finish time). Come and join us outside the Sailing Club, North Prom at 8.50 on Saturday morning.

Next Saturday, as part of the national movement 'Food Bank Run' Hunstanton Promenade Parkrun will be collecting non perishable food and toiletry items for the foodbank. If you can, please come along with items which will be given out by the foodbank to families in need.
