A pleasure welcoming my new Kenyan colleague, Ambassador Cyprian Kubai Iringo, to Mogadishu. The warm relationship the UK and Kenya enjoys includes working closely on security, border and political issues in Somalia. I look forward to taking that partnership further forwards.

I had a wide-ranging and detailed discussion with former President Sharif Sheikh Ahmed today which covered the constitutional review, security transition and regional political issues. An opportunity to hear the views of a senior figure actively engaged on all these issues.

Productive meeting with President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud. We discussed the importance of a consultative approach to Somalia’s constitutional review and the need to progress the vision he set out in New York, including robust plans with the African Union for future security.

🇬🇧 stands ready to honour our commitment to full debt relief as part of the HIPC process. 🇸🇴 has come a long way to have reached where it has today. We are proud to be partners on this journey.
