Very excited to share this paper led by Sara Emery just out in Science of the Total Environment! We use remote sensing to show Lygus pests in CA cotton are a lot worse when nearby natural habitat is productive but dries down early, exporting pests to crop fields! Me w/ a giant garter snake! Once found across the CV it's now a fed threatened species. Like other CV wetland endemics, it now depends on rice fields. If we lost rice, we'd lose the snake. Thanks Laura π for taking me & Emily Mensch out w/ USGS to visit these rad creatures
