Over the last 2 days the Assisted Suicide Bill Committee has REFUSED amendments to exclude people with impaired judgement, the depressed and suicidal, prisoners and homeless people, those 'unduly influenced' by others, or those who are doing it because they feel a burden. 1/3

The committee also refused an amendment that would restrict Assisted Death only to people who dying in pain - the exact group the campaign for this law has been all about. 2/3

Much of the critical written evidence is from the healthcare practitioners who will have to incorporate #assistedsuicide into their work if the bill passes.

Another day in the Assisted Suicide bill committee. A series of amendments to make it safer were rejected. The committee voted down amendments to ensure doctors can’t suggest AS to patients - even to children. 1/
