Seeing a lot of criticism of the evidence informing the #CassReview . Exclusions, narrow view of methodology, etc.
My impression is the opposite, the review was generous.
These are vulnerable young people. We can’t lower standard of safety & effectiveness the NHS should require.
There’s much services can do to ⬇️ risk.

Address key risks like depression. Adapt therapy to autistic traits & past trauma. Work through stresses at home & school.

#EvidenceMatters

It should lead to better mental health care for a group of distressed young people facing prejudice & at risk.
It also shows why in health care, ideology should never outweigh evidence.
#CassReview on suicide risk.
The distress & risk are real & may be exacerbated by long waits for services.
The view that gender-affirming care reduces risk is not supported by evidence.
