Melissa Calusinski was interrogated over the course of more than 9 hours in connection with the death of 16-month-old Benjamin Kingan. More than 60 times, she denied doing anything to harm the toddler. But then, she changed her story.

Before day care worker Melissa Calusinski went on trial for the murder of 16-month-old Ben Kingan, her trial attorney says prosecutors gave him dark, unreadable x-rays of the child. All these years later, defense experts say the x-rays had been manipulated to make them unreadable

Former day care worker Melissa Calusinski has served 16 years of a 31-year prison sentence for a crime she insists she didn’t commit. Over the years, her appeals have failed, but she has now taken her fight out of the court system and straight to Governor J.B. Pritzker.
