Great to see this paper - an agenda on ecosystem resilience monitoring for the #remotesensing community.
This paper arose from discussions at a workshop hosted by International Space Science Institute (ISSI) in collaboration with ESA Earth Observation ESA Climate Office WCRP AIMES & TIPMIP The Earth Commission
The Global stocktake assesses climate action to date and what needs to be done to avoid dangerous warming.
Data from the @ESA Climate Change Initiative have made a contribution to this important #Parisagreement process with global records for the Essential Climate Variables -

The ESA Climate Office has issued a new tender to
Tipping Points - why do they matter? discussed at #COP28
Today a @futureearth + ESA Climate Office highlighted the latest science & how Earth observation can contribute.
Thank you to the contributors Tim Lenton Johan Rockström Ricarda Winkelmann Wendy Broadgate & Sophie Hebden
'We are beyond incremental change' Johan Rockström at launch of new Global Tipping Points report highlighting scale of action needed to avoid passing 1.5C with higher risks of self-reinforcing feedbacks driving abrupt shifts in climate and ecosystems. Potsdam Institute exeteruni
Future Earth and the WCRP just released a statement from scientists about fossil fuel phaseout in relation to recent comments.
The statement mentioned in The New York Times nyti.ms/417HUAg is open for signature by scientists: bit.ly/3R7Fey6

This morning at COP28 UAE we've discussed IMF needs of alternative data sources for physical risk indicators to mitigate & adapt to #ClimateChange along with the curent use of Satellite Earth Observations at World Bank and how European Space Agency ESA Earth Observation can help!
Are we peaking carbon emissions yet? 'This year the 1.1% global emissions incr is largely driven by China's COVID recovery. If next year China's emissions go down we could see a levelling next year' Pierre Friedlingstein GlobalCarbonProject #GCB2023 Future Earth @ExeterUni #COP28
We now have 6% higher emissions than in 2015 Paris Agreement year. Emissions from coal now at record levels...we are fast using up the carbon budget for 1.5C Deforestation outpaces regrowth X2 with little change in global north #GCB2023 #COP28 GlobalCarbonProject Future Earth
