This week, we welcomed scientists from Lecia Biosystems into school who taught children from all year groups all about cells. The group got to view different cells under a microscope and test out some of their other equipment - what an experience! 👏🔬

Our Year 1 children are learning about fractions with the help of pizza! The children used slices of salami for imaginary pizzas to help them visualise halves and quarters. Great work!🍕

Year 1 transported themselves back in time to the Victorian period to compare what school days were like in the past with how they are now. They then enjoyed learning about Samuel Wilderspin who changed schools for the better and even invented playtime and the playground!💡

In Year 1, pupils are learning about plants, the job they do and the parts they are made up of. The children studied some plants up close to use their observational skills and even planted their own seeds so they can watch plants grow in the coming weeks. 🌸🌱

Our Year 1 class loves to read! Yesterday, each child chose a book from their reading corner to read for pleasure and decided if they wanted to read alone or enjoy books together.📚✨

Last week our Nursery children developed their movement, balance and ball skills in preparation for their upcoming sports day!🤩 The children have been working as a team to help each other complete each activity and have shown great support for everyone.

This week in our KS1 Forest School Club, we listened to the story of the Green Man and then used clay to create our own Green Men on the bark of the trees. As the rain poured down we even had fun jumping in puddles and dancing in the rain!☔

We are pleased to announce that we have been awarded the Gold Award from Young Carers Northumberland which is the highest level of the accolade!🥇 We were delighted to be joined by Karen Leightley from Young Carers Northumberland to present us with the award.

Year 3 have had an exciting fortnight. The class designed their own greenhouses in DT, completed a sponsored exercise circuit with the alpine ski athlete Isla Ward, were resilient in sports day and enjoyed learning about angles in maths. Great work Year 3!🤩

Our Reception Puffins enjoyed an amazing trip to Blagdon Estate this half term, where they found out about dairy cows, tasted and compared different kinds of milk and even met a calf who was only a few days old. The group were an asset to our school. ⭐

A group of our Year 5 children received their Mini Police certificates after completing a year of support to the local community. Great job everyone!⭐

Nursery enjoyed a fabulous Stay and Play session last week where we invited our grownups into school to explore some wonderful rock pool creatures. Everyone learned lots of interesting facts.

Our Year 3 Swifts have had a busy start to the term! The group have been drawing figures of people using linear sketching in art, picking and tasting blackberries and learning about online identity in computing. 🤩⭐ Great work Year 3! 👏
