Prof. Keita Christophe and PhD student Ariane Desmarais delve into understanding how parents develop an understanding of social inequities. They found unique relationships between identity and critical consciousness among Black, Asian American, and Latinx parents.

Motivating students is a crucial aspect of effective teaching. But how do we translate research on student motivation into practical changes in classrooms? Prof. Jessica Flake and her team identified models of motivation and discussed practical implementation strategies.

Brains undergo structural and functional changes with aging. What's the relationship between them? PhD candidate Jamie Snytte and Prof. Nathan Spreng find that functional changes linked to memory is related to the structural integrity of the hippocampus and prefrontal cortex.

Long-term music training impacts motor-auditory synchrony and heart rhythms. How about shorter training? PhD student @Seilyce & Prof @SPL_CPalmer studied adults after rhythm training. They found short-term learning and rhythm complexity affect heart rhythms during synchronization

Response styles can bias self-report scores. Additionally, self-report data classified by multiple criteria (cross-classified data) poses challenges for statistical analysis. To address this, Prof. Carl Falk proposes a new Cross-Classified Multidimensional Nominal Response model.

Recent policies spotlighting sex differences unveil male-specific microglia, female-specific CGRP and prolactin roles in pain, and a novel T cell hypothesis. These new findings on sex-specific pain biology are reviewed by Prof Jeffrey Mogil and his team in their recent article!

A promising intervention for emotional eating is Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), effective for weight loss. PhD candidate Jessica Di Sante and Prof Bärbel Knäuper's proof-of-concept study found the intervention acceptable with improvements on all outcome measures.

Neuroimaging studies require accurate anatomical descriptions. However, the morphology of the inferior frontal sulcus (ifs) has been difficult to distinguish from adjacent sulci. PhD student Erika Nolan and Prof Michael Petrides provide the first detailed description of the ifs.

How does bilingualism impact cognitive function preservation, especially in females who experience steeper cognitive declines? PhD Candidate Alicia Duval and Prof. Debra Titone found that workplace, but not home, language use modulates age and menopause-related cognitive changes.

How do people resist temptation in the moment if they struggle to inhibit their impulses? Prof. John Lydon found that individuals who are motivated to maintain their romantic relationships but have poor inhibitory control perceive attractive alternatives as less appealing.

Body shame influences binge eating, but how do its effects differ between genders? PhD Candidate Jessica Di Sante and Prof Bärbel Knäuper, found that body shame predicted binge eating in women but not men. This highlights gender differences in understanding binge eating.

Why does mask-wearing reduce our ability to empathize? Postdoc Sarah McCrackin and Prof. Jelena Ristic explored this question and found that participants struggled to share emotions with masked faces, but this wasn’t solely due to reduced ability to mimic facial expressions.

Matthew Masapollo's study offers the first direct experimental evidence on immediate auditory feedback's role in speech movements. His work at McGill’s Motor Neuroscience Laboratory shows that when people can’t hear their own speech, their jaw and tongue coordination is affected.

One size does not fit all when investigating the effect of oxytocin between sexes. Oxytocin research has been conducted primarily in males. However, sex differences in oxytocin were identified in a recent review by Prof. Jennifer Bartz and PhD Student Juliette Dupertuys.
