We are shocked and saddened to share news of the sudden passing of our esteemed colleague, great researcher and caring adviser Rance Cleaveland.

Our thoughts are with his family, friends and loved ones during this profoundly sad time. go.umd.edu/Cleaveland

Thoughtful, fascinating read on the limits and contributions of models by Dan Rockmore. My summary, can’t take actions only with them, can’t take actions without them! newyorker.com/culture/annals…

In this work, we showed that breaking image watermarking detectors is possible! 🔥🥷

— imperceptible watermarking methods inevitably suffer from evasion or spoofing errors.
— perceptible watermarking techniques are vulnerable to adversarial attacks.

Happy to be a part of it!

Thrilled to announce our 2-approximation algorithm for Prize-Collecting Steiner Forest settling an important network design open problem for almost 35 years. Kudos to my students for hard work. Hoping to showcase it at SODA24 with deserving recognition arxiv.org/abs/2309.05172…

Excited to be presenting at @aamas2023 in London tomorrow! Stop by if you are attending (it has nothing to do with formula racing — this is pure clickbait)

Today in nature, Google Quantum AI and collaborators have braided non-Abelian anyons for the first time. Unlike all particles observed so far, the state of two non-Abelian anyons changes when they are swapped, opening an exciting path in quantum computing
