At #ASA182, attending the sonic boom session. Joe Salamone from , in response to a question about doing a particular analysis: "I'm not sure the juice is worth the squeeze." Love it.

Impressive presentation by Matthew Yancey at #ASA182. He was able to acoustically identify when one of the four engines shut down about 14 seconds into the first Alpha launch. Looking forward to the next Alpha launch this summer!

There is a definite wow factor but I'm not sure everyone will always agree with this sentiment. Here's a brief summary of a paper on the Falcon 9 sonic boom delivered yesterday at #ASA182. acoustics.org/2apaa6-boom-bu…

🎉Congratulations to Prof. Brian Anderson for being elected to Fellow of the Acoustical Society of America! His citation notes his "contributions to applications of acoustic time reversal and acoustics education". Keep up the great work, Brian! Acoustical Society of America

What happens when a major rocket launch scrubs? These BYU students are taking "Enter to learn, go forth to serve" to heart. Proud of them.

If you want to learn about launch vehicle noise, I recommend two articles. 1st: an overview of launch vehicle noise research: acousticstoday.org/from-sputnik-t… 2nd: a technical review article covering many topics, including Mach waves and launch pad noise: doi.org/10.1121/10.000…
