Trump: Overturning Roe v. Wade has been a great thing President Biden: It’s been a terrible thing

A point worth keeping in mind. Trump’s floor of support has always been relatively high. 2020 was close. We shouldn’t be surprised that 2024 has been tracking close despite President Biden’s extraordinarily productive first term.

As more polling starts to drop, don’t expect big moves. This race was always going to be close and that is still the case.

The horse race can be a lagging indicator. Heightened attention among 18-34 year olds to politics points to a real vibe shift. From our latest @publiticspr InfluenceIQ young voter survey: +14% on those reporting they pay “a lot of attention”

- Politically savvy swift Joe Biden endorsement united the party. - Top-notch team. - Not least of all, voters, specifically the anti-MAGA coalition.

Vibes are a leading indicator, the horse race lagging. Polls may not be capturing all of the shift among younger voters and other hard-to-reach groups. Race was always going to be close. That is still the case.

A great turnout for the Jersey for Kamala call last night. @eishamisra and I had the opportunity to break down the state of the race. A big thanks to the Jersey for Kamala team for putting together a great call!

No surprises here. It’s a succinct thematic way of describing deeply unpopular policy agenda, attitudes and behavior, which is far more effective and shareable than a line-by-line rebuttals.

The framing here is very unhelpful. It’s very likely that this was always going to be a tight race (like 2020 and 2016), but enthusiasm is objectively good and not especially irrational. Close races are winnable races.
