Great to see these greater horseshoe bats making use of the hotbox I helped with some years ago. Mums are gathering, ready to give birth a month from now, and every bit of energy they can save by being cozy helps to make bigger, healthier babies! East Devon National Landscape Devon Wildlife Trust

'Screaming parties' of swifts here in Colyton seem to comprise of just 3 or 4 birds (not usual 10+). Not looking promising....

You can't see me! This tiny Common pipistrelle bat is not dead. It is fairly typical for them to 'play dead' like this. I presume it is an anti-predator response.

On this 🐦, we celebrate the turtle dove, which is starting to come back to 🇪🇺 skies

Thanks to a technical support to Member States and legal action, it reached 1.96 million breeding pairs in 2023 in the western flyway 👉 europa.eu/!Fnhxfd

On spare a thought for the tiny Nathusius's pipistrelle bats than can migrate more than 1,000km. Along with the usual hazards, they now have to dodge wind turbines in N Sea and English Channel. Safe travels little bats! 🦇 Here's one we are tracking.

Absolutely agree. Delaying BPS phase out is absolutely not in the interest of farmers - not now and not ever. It really is time that the NFU woke up and started to lobby effectively to help farmers move towards a sustainable future rather than trying to pin them in the dark ages.

Any wildlife lovers out there with £250k to spare? Stunning derelict farmhouse with a major roost of lesser horseshoes plus a couple of greater horseshoes up for auction next week. I managed to get the estate agent to change the brochure to mention . symondsandsampson.co.uk/property/33012…

Good to be in Bovey Tracey to chat about wildlife conservation and our book 'Black Ops and Beaver Bombing'. It is a long time since there have been red squirrels in this part of the world, but still nice to see them commemorated in these old plaques!
