While tornadoes are more rare here in MA, they can still occur. The 30-year average indicates that on any given year, Massachusetts can experience up to 2 tornadoes per year. Although some years are tornado-free, it's important to be prepared. #SevereWeatherPreparednessWeek

The Boston Marathon Unified Coordination Center is standing down. Congratulations and thank you to all the participants, spectators, volunteers, staff and public safety personnel who once again helped make this race a success. #Boston128
In support of #Boston128 , 12 MEMA staff are deployed in the field at the B.A.A. Race Operations Center, City of Boston Emergency Management Emergency Operations Center (EOC), and in local EOCs in communities along the Marathon route. MEMA’s Mobile EOCs are deployed in #Hopkinton and #Brookline .

The Unified Coordination Center at MEMA HQ activated at 6 a.m. with ~133 personnel representing 48 federal, state, local, and nonprofit agencies working together to coordinate public safety operations for #Boston128
A U.S. DOE NNSA helicopter will be conducting low-flying aerial radiation assessment surveys over the Boston Marathon route between April 11-April 15. These flyovers are a regular part of the preparations for #MarathonMonday . tinyurl.com/5fka5m3y
