✈️ Now wheels up for #EPlenary European Parliament, followed by Paris where I'll continue my engagement on the #EUGreenDeal implementation.

Pleased to have met Minister Steven Guilbeault to foster 🇪🇺🇨🇦 collaboration, underpinned by our Green Alliance.

Also discussed #GCPC , an initiative towards global carbon pricing. Our EU ETS - having raised > € 175bn during ~ 20 yrs, while reducing emissions by 47% - shows it works.

Always valuable to engage with Under Secretary Jose W. Fernandez Jose Fernandez. We share the objective to see a global #plastics treaty done and dusted by the end of 2024.

In the margins, we also discussed critical #rawmaterials , esp. the need to strengthen our 🇪🇺🇺🇸 partnership and be in sync globally.

#Plastic pollution must be tackled at its source: ⬆️production = ⬆️pollution.

The new United Nations #plastics treaty must see:
♻️limited production of primary polymers
♻️safe, circular product design
♻️mandatory recycled content
♻️no single-use plastic products.

A good exchange with David Cooper UN Biodiversity on building momentum towards #COP16 . Climate and biodiversity crises pose an existential threat to our wellbeing and entire economies. No time to lose to restore nature.

We need decisive global action to help the plastics industry shift towards a circular, sustainable business model. #TeamEurope has a good story to tell. E.g. 🇪🇺 action on single-use plastic products is good for the environment + creates new market opportunities.

The annual production of #plastic s worldwide has doubled over the past 25 years. But only 9% of #plastic waste is recycled.❗️We should therefore strive for an impactful United Nations treaty on plastics by the end of this year ⏳.
