A pleasure to have met 🇫🇷 Minister Christophe Béchu and discussed how to reach an agreement on an ambitious global #plastics treaty.
Goodbye 🇨🇦!
✈️ Now wheels up for #EPlenary European Parliament, followed by Paris where I'll continue my engagement on the #EUGreenDeal implementation.
Always valuable to engage with Under Secretary Jose W. Fernandez Jose Fernandez. We share the objective to see a global #plastics treaty done and dusted by the end of 2024.
In the margins, we also discussed critical #rawmaterials , esp. the need to strengthen our 🇪🇺🇺🇸 partnership and be in sync globally.
A good exchange with David Cooper UN Biodiversity on building momentum towards #COP16 . Climate and biodiversity crises pose an existential threat to our wellbeing and entire economies. No time to lose to restore nature.
We need decisive global action to help the plastics industry shift towards a circular, sustainable business model. #TeamEurope has a good story to tell. E.g. 🇪🇺 action on single-use plastic products is good for the environment + creates new market opportunities.
In 🇨🇦, Belgian Presidency of the Council of the EU 2024
The annual production of #plastic s worldwide has doubled over the past 25 years. But only 9% of #plastic waste is recycled.❗️We should therefore strive for an impactful United Nations treaty on plastics by the end of this year ⏳.
Glad to discuss call to action with United NationsEP Inger Andersen.
A good meeting with 🔝 global polymer producers. Glad to see alignment on many of the key objectives of the future United Nations #plastic s treaty.
Looking forward to more exchanges to find a common understanding on ways to limit primary #plastic production and address hazardous chemicals.
Product design criteria are vital to reducing the environmental footprint. By setting the right framework, we encourage business to keep improving circularity and sustainability.
With the business coalition in support of an ambitious United Nations plastics treaty. Predictability = a win.
Protecting human health and environment is an instrumental objective which must be at the heart of a new United Nations treaty on plastics.
In Ottawa, at a ministerial roundtable, organised by Minderoo Foundation 🔎 zooming in on health. A pertinent kick-off for our discussions on plastic pollution.
Plastics are important but the negative effect on the environment and health caused by plastic pollution must end. The new United Nations treaty must transform the way plastic products are designed, produced, used, recycled.
