“At a moment when the country is facing a genuine economic threat in the form of Donald Trump’s tariffs, we have policies that are turning away the highly talented master’s and PhD students from around the world that our economy needs most.”

Are you an immigration lawyer? Join us at the Canadian Immigration Lawyers Association networking event in Vancouver on April 23. You do not need to be a CILA member to attend. #cdnimm #immigration #canada #cilavoice cila.co/events/join-ci…

Beware of immigration fraud. As an aside, beware that most people calling themselves "immigration lawyers" are NOT immigration lawyers. Guess what they actually were? When someone says they are an immigration lawyer, look them up on their law society website to confirm.

We are pleased to welcome to our team as a junior legal assistant, Soniya Padaniya. Soniya has a Master's and 8 years of experience in education, which will translate well to her supporting SILC Canadian immigration clients. linkedin.com/in/soniyapadan…

If an immigration lawyer loses their license, esp. for dishonesty, their law career is over. Law societies & immigration bar reject wrongdoers. This is not the case with other imm reps who often carry on unlicensed. And, beware, many of these pretend they are lawyers.

Yes, this will apply to everyone: the system will display information, not limited to transportation mode, who accompanied them, if they are alone, their ID, license plate, and previous trips in CBSA’s records.

Our CILA annual report on immigration fraud was cited! I want to see the good and ethical consultants become the loudest and most persistent voices calling out fraud. Why is the job left to journalist and lawyers? thepointer.com/article/2025-0…

“The Canada Revenue Agency does not circumvent accountants retained by Canadians to complete their tax filings. Why then, do federal departments frequently circumvent immigration lawyers retained by newcomers to represent them?” #immigrationreform #Immigration

My comments in the article. There are some excellent private schools, but the ones that are not need to be removed from IRCC's Designated Learning Institutions list.

We can reasonably expect that this lawyer will experience the full wrath of the regulator (Law Society), if it finds these allegation true. Lawyers' regulators do not mess around. Huge red flag if imm reps charge for jobs, a purely illegal act. cbc.ca/news/canada/ne…

Yet again we submitted to #IRCC webform an IMM 5476 Use of Rep with obviously wet-signed client & lawyer signatures. We specifically noted"*WET-SIGNED*. Guess what? Go on, guess. IRCC: This is a hot topic in the immigration bar and an ongoing/frequent pain point.
