Hi #gardenshour! Anyone else felt autumn is definitely here? Mind, it's felt like that here in Penrith since July! This is what October means to us... don't 'tidy up' and cut back perennials. They're ideal hibernation spots for beneficial insects in winter. #gardening #gardeningX

I grow clematis tangutica in a large pot at the base of an ivy covered fence. The ivy was not my idea. Decided not to cut it back this year but to leave the flowers for late flying pollinators. The scent is surprisingly heady. And the fence is nowhere to be seen. #GardensHour

October means... Halloween! 🎃 Last year I carved my first ever pumpkins, and honestly I think I might have set the bar too high. Not sure I'll do anything as intricate this year! Would love to do another garden-themed one though. Any ideas? #GardensHour #GardeningTwitter

Morning. Another chilly one, tho’ a bit amused by at least one comment I’ve seen along the lines of ‘Ah, but you didn’t experience the big freeze of ‘63.’ I did, and remember these ice floes coming down the Tyne, circling shipping and - as here - the ferry landings.

What March means to us is summed up by yesterday's #WorldWildlifeDay. It's easy to think of megafauna in Africa but don't forget the small creatures that keep your garden ecosystems ticking over - and they're waking up! #gardenshour

Had to share this March gem - Japanese blood plum Lizzie. As the name suggests, blood-red flesh, massive cropper, delicious raw or as a compote. And what a way to welcome meteorological spring! #gardenshour

Hi Virgin Media ❤️ - I've had no email since Monday as I've been locked out of my account despite a protracted call with your helpdesk - what exactly am I paying for? Can you set up a redirect to my Gmail as at least that works?
