A2: We have had candidates teach lessons and then talk to students after and/or have had students give the candidate a tour and ask them about how the tour went after. Ss can tell a lot in small interactions.

A1: We recently held a Native Youth Leadership Summit. I spoke about the importance of their voice in our district. 2 came to a board meeting and asked for a meeting to discuss Indigenous People’s Day. Now we have a group planning a district wide event for 2024.

A2: I think of it like PacMan, I’m PacMan and the little pills are the things I have to do, regardless of the walls or the ghosts I still have to get all the pills. Sometimes it takes a pause, restart, and new approach.

A1: I take to heart the notion of assuming positive intent. Being kind becomes so much easier. I told a student this week, β€œI don’t believe you got out of bed this morning with the idea to disrupt the whole class.” Our conversation was different with that shared belief.

Majalise from Oregon. Yesterday was a great day (they all are, actually). I had a meeting with area superintendents, had a beautiful drive to one of our libraries for a Siletz culture presentation, and spent the evening at a fundraiser at one of our schools.

There is still a concern around cheating with AI, but the tool can also be used to develop more authentic lessons and activities to demonstrate learning. It also encourages us to get to know our students and their voice on a more urgent and real level.

A1: Wr are exploring teacher uses for lesson development, rubric writing, and for generating ideas. We are exploring use of Packback (spelling) in AVID. We heard colleges are encouraging and allowing it and want to prepare our students for technology they may use. -

A4: We allowed the teams to set their own agenda templates this year based on what they need. We set parameters and they design for what they need.

A3: Some of our schools do debriefs with their staff after. Our District Team of teachers and admin from all schools go back and share district level goals, data, and next steps (built through collaboration) at the building.

We talk about how work samples and student evidence are data. We are looking at street level data. What is the learning behavior being demonstrated during the work? Where is their work stamina?
