📣New paper about #Iceland in G3. We report oxygen isotopes in rocks from #Katla volcano 🌋 and use the Magma Chamber Simulator 💻 to gain insight into silicic magma genesis in Iceland🧵1/3

The basaltic rocks at Katla have fairly mantle-like oxygen isotope ratios whereas the silicic rocks have noticeably low ratios, suggesting they interacted with Icelandic crust with a modified oxygen isotope signature (low d¹⁸O crust) 🧵2/3
