Deputy First Minister Kate Forbes MSP has been sworn in as Cabinet Secretary for Economy & Gaelic, becoming the first person to take the oath in Gaelic.

Beautiful spring weather continued in South Uist today for a visit to Sgoil Dhalabroig. Many thanks to the staff and pupils for welcoming me and sharing all your great work.

A busy day in Barra ended with a tour of 𝗖𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗹𝗲𝗯𝗮𝘆 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗦𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗼𝗹 for our Comhairle nan Eilean elected members. Thanks to the HT and staff for accommodating us and showing us around.

Took the chance for a walk on the beautiful Traigh a Baigh in Vatersay during the Comhairle nan Eilean Committee lunch recess.

It’s a beautiful day at Vatersay Hall for today’s sitting of Comhairle nan Eilean committees. Transport & Infrastructure first followed by Policy & Resources committee.

Preparing to cross over to Barra this morning for the second day of Comhairle nan Eilean committees, which are being held at Vatersay Hall later today.

Interesting and informative visit to Sgoil Uibhist a Tuath this morning. Great to hear about the schools work to improve their curriculum and raise attainment. Lots of outdoor learning going on too using the school garden.
