Welcome Week 2024 is off to a fantastic start! We’re so excited to be able to facilitate meaningful connections and relationships between our first year students 🙌🏾

Welcome to an incredible start to Welcome Week 2024 with the BSSC From vibrant icebreakers to inspiring conversations, Day 1 set the stage for an amazing year ahead. Our community came together, made meaningful connections and laid down the foundation for success.

For many, this was the first time they saw themselves reflected in the vibrant network of peers, mentors, and leaders around them. The connections made this Move-In Weekend are a testament to our community's strength and commitment to empowering Black students at McMaster U.

Day 2 of Welcome Week was a game-changer, showcasing our community's vibrant energy and unwavering support. This day highlighted our commitment to empowering Black students and celebrating our collective strength. Discover the impactful moments in our photo album and recap reel.

Holistic wellness was the focus at BSSC, as we championed the well-being of Black students across campus. In partnership with Indigenous Student Services, we reinforced our commitment to creating culturally responsive spaces that uplift and empower our communities.

Yesterday’s “The Cookout” at the Black Student Success Centre celebrated Blackness and community, showcasing our commitment to empowering Black students and amplifying their voices. This is just the beginning of building a resilient, inclusive campus.

The final day of Welcome Week was a powerful celebration of Black excellence and community! We embraced diverse perspectives with our International Student Brunch, highlighted McMaster’s Black student clubs, and closed with the dynamic BSSC Olympics.

As Welcome Week 2024 closes, we would like to say a very special thank you to our Welcome Week Planner and Program Support Assistant, Timi Toyon for all of her dedication and hard work into this phenomenal welcome for all incoming Black students. We are forever grateful 🎉🎉🙌🏾🙌🏾
