Support from 🇩🇰 allows UNHCR to respond to humanitarian needs, particularly in forgotten crises such as those in the Sahel. Yesterday we were in Denmark to exchange views on how best to continue to deliver.

Denmark is helping the victims of the devastating #MyanmarEarthquake by providing a grant of USD 1.5 million to @UNHCR’s emergency response. We continue to monitor the situation in close dialogue with UN, Red Cross and NGO partners.

The #UNSC met today to discuss Protection of Civilians. Denmark is deeply alarmed by the killings of first responders in Gaza. Humanitarian workers must be able to work in safety. #IHL must be respected.

For more than 10 yrs, 🇩🇰 has hosted UN City Copenhagen, where the global headquarters of UNOPS & 9 other United Nations agencies, 2,000 staff from 100 different countries, operate. Yesterday, UNSG António Guterres visited & thanked everyone for their support to vulnerable people around the world.

Denmark is deeply alarmed by the The Integrated Food Security Phase Classification reporting a high risk of famine in #Gaza. We urge Israel to immediately lift the blockade on Gaza. Humanitarian aid should be distributed in line with humanitarian principles and never be used as a political bargaining chip.
