The lawsuit says that with no masks and no way to social distance in the deli department of the Sunset Harbour Publix, Gerardo Gutierrez was helpless to prevent catching COVID-19 from a worker and dying in April. Gutierrez was 70. trib.al/gEhM8qG

The family of a Publix employee who died from coronavirus complications this spring has filed a wrongful death lawsuit that claims the grocery store chain refused to allow employees to wear masks at the time he became sick cnn.it/2UYIWNC

As Megan Reeves reported in April, Publix lagged behind its competitors in taking public health precautions in the spring washingtonpost.com/nation/2020/11…

Lots of talk about legislation giving immunity from suit for #COVID #litigation. Safeguards for workers are necessary & customers should feel safe to help rebuild economy. Also important to understand the very limited number of tort cases filed nationwide. wjhg.com/2020/11/25/law…

As the issue of legal immunity is debated, we must remember our essential workers and ensure they are adequately protected. Safe workers and safe consumers will help rebuild the economy. #litigation #COVID

We were able to resolve the family’s civil suit against Cornell, but are disappointed that no criminal charges are being brought. Our investigation and the investigation performed by police make clear there were violations of New York’s hazing law.

After beating back Publix’s motion to dismiss, we are looking forward to getting this case into discovery and holding it accountable for its misguided decisions.

“I’m just a mother wanting to know what happened to her son,” Ms. Tomasello said recently. “We don’t care about anything else other than knowing what happened to Antonio so that it does not happen again.” A devastating story by ⁦Nicholas Bogel-Burroughs⁩ nytimes.com/2021/03/13/nyr…

Antonio Tsialas was thriving in his first year at college. Then he was found dead in a gorge, and the fraternity that recruited him closed ranks. What happened is still a mystery. nyti.ms/3qIWfPV

Proud of my colleagues Steve Cain and Carol Goraczko. In what should’ve been the happiest moment of their lives, this family suffered horrific neglect. Steve/Carol’s hard work will ensure their son is taken care of forever.

Thank you Roy Ramos for reporting on our recently filed lawsuit. Lapses in security led to a carjacking and ultimately the death of a 25 year old woman. This was a completely preventable tragedy.

Other incarcerated people could hear Davon Gillians begging for food and saying he couldn't feel his legs, and that he was scared he was going to die in the restraint chair, a lawsuit says. Romy Ellenbogen reports for Tampa Bay Times: trib.al/PLQFi5R

Davon Gillians was killed while in custody at FCI Coleman - the country’s largest federal prison. His family deserves answers and justice and we intend to deliver both.

Thanks to Michele Steele for having me on SportsCenter. Northwestern allowed hazing to take root in its locker room and missed the moment in responding to the allegations. The university faces huge civil exposure should a hazing victim decide to step forward and file suit.
