Tuesday's #ObjectoftheDay was MU4576: 12th century #Byzantine diadem with a Christian scene. This object was meant to inspire in the viewer a sense of wonder & an awareness of the prestige & piety of the woman who wore it. Chosen by Alexandra Kujanpaa 🙏👑 📷 Effy Alexakis

To conclude our second week of Collection Condition Reporting, Museum of Ancient Cultures legend Connor Guest has chosen this Hellenistic bronze ladle (MU4800) as #Objectoftheday The detailed swan head decorating the handle caught his eye, as did the “timelessness” and utility of the object.

Education Super🌟 Alexandra Kujanpaa has chosen MU3734 a small Roman juglet with black glaze decoration as #objectoftheday Though it might seem ordinary take a closer look at fingerprint left behind by the artist... a little gift from antiquity 📷 Effy Alexakis
