#EarthDay2022 is good timing for the publication of this awesome work led by Penelope Pickers. Using atmospheric oxygen we could detect regional CO2 emission reductions during COVID lockdowns, something not possible with CO2 observations alone. Corinne Le Quéré science.org/doi/10.1126/sc…

Thread 1/10 This figure is one of the many great figures of IPCC AR6 WGI It is the first time in 30 years+ of IPCC that a fig. on carbon sinks is published in the Summary for Policy Makers, the one document with most readers, including governments, & often the only one read.

Why did #methane surge in 2020 ? Our article just published @nature shows that the high growth rate of CH4 in 2020 is explained half by decreased OH removal & half by more wetland emissions Shushi Peng CEA GlobalCarbonProject IPSL 🌍 … 🧶 nature.com/articles/s4158…

This is well-intentioned, but bad advice. Eating locally doesn't make a big difference to your carbon footprint (in fact, it can make it worse). What you eat is much more important than how far it has travelled. I explain why here: ourworldindata.org/food-choice-vs…

Today we cycled part of the Dutch coastline when sea level rises #Cycling4Climate. And because it was so much fun with our MAQ Wageningen U&R colleagues, we cycled home to Wageningen too, adding up to a 180km ride!
