Need you all to understand that the COVID vaccines do not prevent you from getting COVID or from giving it to others. They do not prevent you from getting Long COVID, either. You need to take a multi-layer approach to protect yourself and those around you.

the ability to perform labor is tied to housing, healthcare and food access the inability to perform labor is a poverty sentence poverty, houselessness and food insecurity are policy choices so... how the fuck is any of that disabled people's fault?

The cost of chronic illness isn't just physical. It's losing friends and family. Losing time. Losing dreams. Losing pieces of who you used to be. Losing hobbies. Losing jobs. Losing stability. All while being shamed for not "staying positive."

No one deserves to starve We have enough food to feed everyone, but we have a problem with wealth inequality We must stop viewing those who are disabled and/or poor as moral failures and start recognizing the system is rigged against us It’s rigged against everyone but the 1%

btw “masks protect others, not you” is a 2020 talking point from when crappy surgical masks were the only option available to the general public, whereas an N95/similar/better is actually so effective at protecting the wearer that many of us have simply stopped getting sick, ever

I barely have enough money to survive, but if a few more of my tax dollars could ensure food, housing, education and healthcare for everyone? I would give it in a heartbeat Those with the least often share the most The rich hoard their wealth Abolish the billionaire class.

N95s can prevent more than just Covid! They stop colds, flus and other airborne illness. They’re also highly effective against pollen, pollution, wildfire smoke and environmental triggers. Many maskers haven’t been sick in years. Respirators are pretty amazing.

A casual reminder that attendance targets and awards for attendance directly punish disabled and sick children for things outside of their control.

Erin Ekins (she/her) 💯 And punish children with caring responsibilities or with unstable home lives that mean they don’t always have a supportive adult. Also they encourage sick kids to attend, increasing the danger to the immunocompromised. Basically, they hurt kids who are already hurting.

Disabled and neurodivergent people go through "exposure therapy" every single day just to survive... And it is one of the reasons so many of us are burned out and traumatised. So please don't with the "You just need to push yourself" bollocks.

Taking Covid seriously in 2025 is like living in a parallel universe, except people in the “post-Covid”-verse can still infect, disable, and kill you.

Invisible disabilities exist. Dynamic disabilities exist. People with the same disability but different severities exist. Better days and worse days with disability exist. You cannot always judge someone’s disability just by looking at them. And you shouldn’t. Their abilities

It’s been a pleasure working with Lex and everyone in the politics vertical at Teen Vogue. I’m heartbroken that my column, Disability Visibility, is gone. Teen Vogue was one of the few places that published disabled journalists regularly.

Healthcare is a basic human right. Food is basic human right. Education, housing, clean air & water are human rights. Using healthcare & food as leverage should be grounds for removal from office. SNAP, Medicaid and the ACA are worth fighting for People will die without them
