We shouldn't be jailing mothers for non-violent offences full stop. 17k mothers are seperated from kids yearly. In 95% of cases where mothers are imprisoned, children have to move home. 600 pregnant women jailed with around 100 babies born inside. Yearly

Jailed mothers are 5x likely to suffer a still birth. 83% of women sentenced to prison had committed a non-violent crime. 62% were serving a sentence of six months or less.
