A passing thought that there are people out there who will be reading the inquiry report and quietly knowing they were on the right side of history, even though it made them unpopular, cost them opportunities and saw their views dismissed. If faced with the choice, be like them

Tom Swarbrick 'It hasn't taken Labour ministers long to learn the dark arts of avoiding a question.' 'Shameful. Just give an answer.' 'What a car crash.' Tom Swarbrick reads out texts from listeners venting their anger at the Building Safety Minister, following her interview on LBC.

Tom Swarbrick 'Thousands of people's lives are on hold and you have a minister who can't answer a simple question... It's just not good enough.' An emotional caller Marita, who owns a property with unsafe cladding, lambasts the Building Safety Minister for dodging Tom Swarbrick's questions.

Comments from the #Grenfell inquiry are all too familiar We raised legitimate concerns about fire safety following Grenfell including an evacuation point nobody could reach We were threatened with increased Management fees if we didn't stop complaining ##buildingsafetycrisis

In Australia this is true -under reporting / testing for #combustible #cladding is remains rife. Builders not being held accountable for repairs. #Strata owners ignoring occupiers liability risk. Regulators under resourced to enforce compliance.

Read this thread by Tommy. It shows just how much money incompetent & morally bankrupt freeholders, insurers, manging agents & remediation companies are making by exploiting the #BuildingSafetyCrisis &the real harm caused every day to the victims. Angela Rayner Rushanara Ali MP 💙

Hopefully, it won't be focused on cladding alone. Otherwise, the acronym for "Cladding Remediation Acceleration Plan" will be wholly appropriate.

This man is a liar. Remember, he told desperate leaseholders caveat emptor, in Parliament, when challenged whether he was going far enough to remove flammable material from buildings whilst protecting innocent leaseholders at the same time. hansard.parliament.uk/commons/2021-0…

Wonder how many times a GP in the UK has listened to a patient suffering from stress and nervous breakdowns from being a leaseholder. I imagine the brain of a leaseholder is similar to those under constant stress on the battlefield. The stakes feel that high. #brokenbritain

But we didn't bother. In fact, the government only said it would finally make these changes *last Monday*. There is pretty direct evidence that its failure to do so in Blair's time was to appease product manufacturers.

And then in 2001 the UK govt paid for fire tests on cladding systems, which included the one later used on Grenfell. It was a catastrophic failure, and the report warned that existing standards could mean it was used on UK buildings. The govt did nothing.

Rob Gershon I once worked with a group of people who tried to set a code of conduct for HAs based upon minimum standards of behaviour and performance. It was rejected by housing leaders.
