Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day is observed on Dec. 7, to remember and honor the 2,403 Americans who were killed in the Japanese surprise attack on Pearl Harbor in Hawaii on Dec. 7, 1941, which led to the U.S. declaring war on Japan the next day and thus entering World War II.

On December 12, 1787, Pennsylvania became the second state to ratify the Constitution, by a vote of 46-23. Pennsylvania was also the first large state to ratify the nation’s founding legal document.

Today we commemorate the life of Martin Luther King Jr. and his crusade to end racism in the United States. It is the only federal holiday dedicated to volunteerism and acts of service, a fitting legacy for Dr. King.

Today marks the 80th Anniversary of D-Day. On 6/6/1944 more than 156,000 American, British and Canadian troops stormed 50 miles of Normandy's beaches in northern France in an operation that proved to be a critical turning point in WWII.

Touch-A-Truck hosted by the Military Affairs Council Western Pennsylvania. MACWPA seeks to increase awareness of the missions of all service branches in the Greater Pittsburgh area and neighboring communities to assist in recruiting and retention in military service.

On Sept. 11, 2001, America was forever changed. It has been 23 years since the attacks of that tragic day, which served as a true test of the American spirit and will always be remembered. #PatriotDay

It was my honor to attend The 2025 Spirit of King Award Ceremony at the Kingsley Assoc. Center today where the late Constance B. Parker and Robert Lee Penny were honored for embracing the spirit of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and making an impact in our region.

Today I had the honor of joining State Rep. Valerie Gaydos on a flight w/the 171st Air Refueling Wing in Coraopolis. After the flight, we attended the US Strategic Command Presentation of the Omaha Trophy which recognizes the best unit of USSTRATCOM. Congratulations to the 171st!
