Roll up, roll up. Change is good - is it f**k. John King argues that digitisation poses a bigger threat than Orwell, Huxley & Bradbury ever imagined. 1984 will soon be the good old days. spiked-online.com/2023/10/25/we-…

'Night and the City' (1950) was adapted to screen based on the novel by Gerald Kersh. Jules Dassin who was under the suspicion for his political beliefs, never read the book while making the film. He was under pressure to finish the movie since he feared it might be his last.

Stewart Home Talking about the reforgotten, this reminded me of Robert Westerby’s β€œWide Boys Never Work” from 1937. I read the 2008 reissue with the Iain Sinclair intro, but must have been a library copy because I don’t own it. So I just went online and bought it.

Kim Davis One of a series of great reissued from London Books, who also published my novel She's My Witch (first edition not a reissue in my case). I haven't looked at my copy in a while & will try to located it in my jumble of books soon!

@Crisopera1 The book is by Gerald Kersh, the best selling author in Britain in the 1940s. I read his remarkable Prelude To A Certain Midnight. Highest recommendation.

My novel She's My Witch is not only a page turner, it's also a talisman that brings wealth, long life & happiness. You can rub the cover for money! This video proves it! youtu.be/Qpg7ZQFT7UM

Joe Flanagan tony honickberg If you think this has soul and personality which I totally agree with, you need to read the literature from that time by East End writers. Literature worth reviving and returned to shelves. Look out for London Books who are doing that.

R.I.P. Britt Allcroft. As a very young girl she was selected by BBC to be an β€œideas person” for young people’s programming. She was paired with Kenny Lynch to come up with something. They delivered Get It, Got It, Good. Later Britt spotted an opportunity to buy the rights to pic.x.com/7NxJ95Lhhj

I remember thinking Irvine Welsh was a bit over the top with Freddy Royle in 1996's "Ecstasy". But I know a lot more about England now. standard.co.uk/news/uk/did-ir…
