Unnecessary detail of any kind tires the reader, who wonders if they need to remember it, and distracts them from relevant detail. Sure, use dates where jurisdictionally relevant but not otherwise. You don't see a lot of '0n [date],' in John Roberts & Elena Kagan opinions.

Interviewer: What would you say are your strengths?

Me: I can isolate and identify at any and every moment what vocal part Manuel, Danko, Helm and Robertson are singing in any The Band song.

Interviewer: Congratulations, Mr. Vice President
