Concepts First. That is how we teach so much of law. For example, I can’t teach every legal document a junior lawyer might create in a 4-credit year long class. Instead we teach the concepts and meta skills through example documents—and we make clear why we are doing it.

I'll just add that presenting at AALS PR New Voices was so incredibly helpful for me and has set me on a path of writing in this discipline. I have been welcomed by folks with open arms--and got generous feedback from day 1!

Gen AI is not all bad! I just asked ChatGPT for a concrete hypothetical to explain a complex theoretical concept so a tenth grader could understand. And it knocked that assignment out of the park.
