The Kansas legislature is surreal. The house just passed a bill to make conceal carry permits free “to help low income gun owners” & the very next bill is making it harder for poor elderly folks to qualify for food assistance. #ksleg

The Kansas Senate also votes overwhelmingly (35-5) to pass this bill, which pushes groundwater districts to take action to conserve water in the most depleted parts of the Ogallala Aquifer. The Senate added amendments, so the bill goes back to the House now to see if they agree.

I am proud to ceremonially sign Senate Sub for House Bill 2302 & House Bill 2279. These bipartisan bills promote water conservation and allocate $35 million to protect water resources throughout Kansas. It's a step forward in guaranteeing a safe and sustainable water supply.
