I was so excited to see one of my all-time favorite teachers, Matt Christensen, on the house floor today! He was named a 2023 Kansas Master Teacher, and the award could not be more deserved! Congratulations, Mr. Christensen 🎉 Kansas is so lucky to have you! #ksleg BVNW Huskies

TC Energy is still giving evasive non- answers to our very serious concerns about the keystone oil spill in Washington, KS. Why are their oil spills becoming more severe and more frequent? How long will the clean up take? When will they remove the no fly zone? #ksleg

⚖️VOTING IS A FUNDAMENTAL RIGHT IN KANSAS ⚖️ We are thrilled the Kansas Appeals Court has unanimously ruled in our favor finding that any restriction on voting must pass the highest level of scrutiny.

Look. As a #ksleg elected official, I don’t do this job to become rich. I have no spouse or family wealth to lean on. I have a second job. Last year, money was tight and I found myself at my local food pantry. All we’re asking for is a livable wage.

#NeverForget Kansans voted in a landslide to protect our freedom and right to make our own private medical decisions. We have a constitutional right to control our bodies. #ksleg needs to stop ignoring this clear message from voters. kansasreflector.com/2023/03/20/law…

For months leading up to the August 2 election, we were told that we must "listen to the people." Kansans made their position known, loud and clear. It's beyond time for #ksleg to respect our rights and freedoms, and LISTEN to the people who elected them. kansasreflector.com/2023/03/20/law…

Kansas ranks 47th in college grads from Kansas staying in Kansas, losing nearly half of the college grads it produces (mostly to Missouri) washingtonpost.com/business/2022/… #ksleg #ksed

The Kansas legislature is surreal. The house just passed a bill to make conceal carry permits free “to help low income gun owners” & the very next bill is making it harder for poor elderly folks to qualify for food assistance. #ksleg

The Kansas Senate also votes overwhelmingly (35-5) to pass this bill, which pushes groundwater districts to take action to conserve water in the most depleted parts of the Ogallala Aquifer. The Senate added amendments, so the bill goes back to the House now to see if they agree.

Today is #TransDayofVisibility. As your governor, I will continue to stand up for all Kansans to protect your rights and call out any behavior that aims to discriminate and divide.

“We’ve been wildly successful, and it’s come at a very high cost.” The Ogallala Aquifer has helped make #westernkansas an agricultural powerhouse. But its clock is ticking. My latest for High Plains Public Radio + Kansas News Service explores how we got here and what's next. hppr.org/hppr-news/2023…

BREAKING: Kansas Senate SUSTAINS Gov. Kelly's veto of SB26 which would have banned gender affirming care for those under 18. The bill is now dead & Kansans who rely on hormone therapy are safe to continue making private medical decisions with their doctor. #ksleg

terfs in the #ksleg please know I am completely uninterested in your narrow definition of womanhood — which I happen to meet! I don’t want your “allyship” and I don’t need your protection.

I am proud to ceremonially sign Senate Sub for House Bill 2302 & House Bill 2279. These bipartisan bills promote water conservation and allocate $35 million to protect water resources throughout Kansas. It's a step forward in guaranteeing a safe and sustainable water supply.

My reflections on the anniversary of Aug 2, 2022, the day Kansans overwhelmingly voted to protect the constitutional right to reproductive freedom after the fall of Roe vs. Wade. The hope and pride from our victory carries on, but actions by #ksleg show we must keep up the fight.
